Hello there, and welcome! We’re Elliot and Kirsty – two passionate travellers who’ve spent years exploring the world, soaking up cultures, cuisines, and unforgettable experiences (some good, some bad!) If you’re looking for honest, insightful, and inspiring travel reviews, you’ve come to the right place.
We’re ‘normal people’ in our 30s living in the Peak District, UK. We both have full time jobs and we’re starting a young family. Most of our trips factor in our jobs – often Friday to Monday or Friday to Sunday – though we’ve also been on luxury trips, cruises and adventure trips. We’ve both also lived abroad when younger!
Meet Elliot
I’ve always been a bit of a globe-trotter at heart and have food and hospitality in my blood – my parents were chefs and restauranteurs! I grew up in the countryside and then studied History at Uni, and have a real interest in the cultural and historical sides of places we visit, as well as seeing nature and spectacular landscapes. I’ve visited a fair bit of Europe on a range of shorter and longer trips, as well as parts of the Middle East, and also more adventurous stuff like climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and road-tripping along the stunning West Coast of the United States.
I’m a big fan of “discovering” cities and places and not necessarily following a set path or a curated list. I also quite like golf and on the rare occasion there’s time will try and play – this has got me in to trouble in the past, like the time I found myself accidentally competing in the qualifying round of a professional golf tournament in Qatar!
Meet Kirsty
I always wanted to work in the travel industry and studied this at college and university, before working as a travel consultant for a major holiday company once I graduated. I then spent several years working in-resort for TUI, and lived and worked across Western Europe and Scandinavia, including upbeat resorts in Ibiza, luxury in the Algarve and Menorca and two seasons Santa-seeking in Lapland, Finland!
When COVID hit I returned to the UK and worked as a hotel manager for a luxury spa and wedding location in the Peak District, before making a career change to have better hours and travel more for myself! As well as lots of Europe, I’ve cruised around Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, seen the Northern Lights in rural Lapland, and have spent time among the temples and tuk-tuks in India and Sri Lanka!
Our Story
We met in 2022 and quickly discovered a shared love for exploring the world. In just two years, we’ve embarked on around 30 trips together, ticking off destinations like South and Central America, Mauritius, and countless European cities. We also love discovering the treasures of the UK, from bustling cities, rainy woodland and historic castles, to ancient heritage sites, off-beat food and drink, and serene spa escapes – all of which you’ll find on our blog.
