Hotel Guadalmedina in Malaga was a solid choice for a one-night stopover before catching the train to Granada the next morning. The location is fantastic—literally a 2 or 3-minute walk from the train station (Malaga Central), which is also the line you take from Malaga Airport. This makes it incredibly convenient for getting in and out of the city. We even managed to do a day trip to Benalmadena Pueblo on the day we arrived, thanks to the hotel’s prime position.
The hotel itself was clean, well-presented, and comfortable. It wasn’t anything exceptional, but it did the job and the price point was good. It’s neither super modern or particularly dated. The breakfast offered a good variety, with some nice Spanish touches (eg tostada with puréed tomato – sounds weird but is nice!) though again, it wasn’t anything to write home about.
One thing that stood out was the thoughtful provision of toiletries—razor, toothbrush, comb, shoe shine, etc. We didn’t use everything, but it’s a nice touch for a hotel at this price point (around £100 a night). The shower was excellent, and we had a pleasant view from our 5th-floor room.
Overall, it’s not a luxury stay, but for a night in Malaga, it ticked all the boxes and was definitely a worthwhile choice. We’d stay again if we needed to be in central Malaga.
